What is the difference between Premium Class and Class 2 Drill pipe?

Premium Class drill pipe has become the NORM in the industry for drilling, while Class 2 has been rarely used by most Operators.

Premium ClassClass 2
Tube wall thickness (% remaining wall)>= 80%>= 70%
Maximum Allowable Slip Cut (% remaining wall)>= 90%>= 90%
Minimum Tool Joint Outside Diameter80% of tube
