Is it possible to use Carbon Steel with 625 clad valves in flowline riser piping service instead of 25% Chrome Super Duplex stainless steel material?

The Inconel-lined carbon steel valves can be used with following conditions:

  • Inconel cladding should cover all wetted surfaces, including flange facing gasket areas, seat pockets, stem and trunnion sealing areas, body-to-bonnet sealing areas, etc.
  • Inconel thickness and maximum Fe surface content shall comply with industry “Material Selection” guidelines.
  • Bolting should be UNS32760 requirements.

The Inconel-lined carbon steel valves can be used as possible alternate material to solid Super Duplex body and Super Duplex trim valves. Riser service valve types include ball, double block and bleed and check designed in accordance with ASME B16.34. Given heavy wall requirement, the Inconel-lined carbon steel alternative may provide cost and delivery benefit to your project requirement.
