Cathodic Protection on Subsea Wellhead Assemblies

Wellhead connectors, guide bases and guide arms should be equipped with a 2-3 coat epoxy coating system. The guide base assembly should be equipped with a sacrificial anode cathodic protection system designed in accordance with DNV RP-B401 with a minimum design life of 25 years.

The cathodic protection system for the guide base assembly should include provisions for current drain to the well casing in compliance with DNV RP-B401. The cathodic protection design should also include provision for current drain to the adjoining thermal sprayed aluminum (TSA) coated top tension risers (TTR) from the wellhead connector to the top of the crossover joint.
