Essential Responsibilities:

  • As the Thermal Hydraulics Engineer– LOCA and Containment you will:
  • Perform technical evaluations and analyses in the area of Emergency Core Cooling System Loss of Coolant Accidents, containment response and impact, hydrodynamic and pressurization loads, fuel performance, with general expertise in two-phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques
  • Lead projects, train less experienced engineers, provide effective mentoring, etc.
  • Ensure work is in compliance with NRC regulated policies and procedures, as well as Quality Assurance standards
  • Interface with internal and external customers on technical issues
  • Engage in Company initiatives, including process improvement tasks and New Product Introduction opportunities
  • Lead LCA team process improvement/automation initiatives
  • Perform in cross-disciplinary settings, engaged with interfacing teams responsible for mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design or other affiliated organizations to find optimum customer solutions.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Nuclear Industry in PWR or BWR safety analysis

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ph.D. in engineering discipline from an accredited college or university with experience in thermal hydraulic modeling as applied to nuclear reactor systems
  • Experience with BWRs or PWRs; or comparable, portable industry experience in piping networks, fluid flow, pump design, pressure vessels, thermal-hydraulic design.
  • Experience in ECCS / LOCA, Containment, HELB / MELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads or Reactor Internals Pressure Difference analyses
  • Experience with T / H systems codes such as TRACG, TRACE, RELAP, or RETRAN
  • Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements
  • Knowledge of / Experience with 10 CFR 50.46 regulations
  • Experience with best estimate and CSAU applications
  • Experience with programming (C#, FORTRAN, PYTHON)
  • Decisiveness and the ability to make decisions with speed and accuracy based on the best available information
