Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical engineering activities within engineering team
  • Participate in the assessment of core equipment utilized in BESS
  • Assist product management and procurement team with vendor evaluation and organization of various equipment available and required for supporting engineering actives for BESS
  • Perform calculations, modeling, simulations and analysis of integrating BESS
  • Understanding and expertise in NEC/UL, IEEE, IEC and other pertinent international electrical standards governing energy storage systems
  • Draft and simulate electrical schematics, arc flash studies, and load flow and short circuit analysis
  • Design and configure battery energy storage systems including component selection, site layout, cable schedule, auxiliary load estimation, HVAC sizing, and battery sizing/configuration
  • Design electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and application/logic functional block diagrams in Autocad Electrical for energy storage systems including AC, DC, auxiliary power, control, and communications
  • Review system specifications and develop electrical protection schemes and component selection such as breakers, fuses and relays for AC, DC, and auxiliary power of energy storage system
  • Design and engineer cable schedules for AC and DC including one-line interpretation, ampacity calculation, and cable/termination selection
  • Develop control solutions including I/O table, PLC selection, PLC logic development, testing, and deployment of solution into production environment
  • Review project specification and interconnection requirements, select adequate PCS, and develop/calculate settings and configuration
  • Evaluate product and system designs and configurations for compliance to relevant industry standards such as NEC, UL9540, UL1741, UL1973, and IEEE1574
  • Develop test plans for component and manufacturing suppliers and execute them onsite ensuring compliance to functional and QA requirements
  • Participate in field testing and commissioning activities by developing test plans and collaborating with the field engineering team to execute and troubleshoot as needed
  • Develop product documentation such as manuals, application notes, and technical specifications
  • Collaborate in a team environment and/or take charge of opportunities to develop optimal solutions for customers and product development programs

The ideal candidate would have the following:

  • M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering
  • +5 years of electrical engineering experience focusing in power systems and renewable energy
  • 3-5 years of battery storage experience or relevant experience in renewable power generation wind, solar, power converters and switchgears up to 1000VAC / 1500VDC
  • Working experience with type testing and UL / CE certification process is a merit
  • Ability to design electrical circuits for LV, MV, and DC applications ensuring compliance to common design standard
  • Working knowledge of industrial control philosophies and communication protocols
  • Proficiency with Autocad Electrical
  • Ability to solving customer’s needs and issues
  • Maintain positive working relationships with customers, peers, subordinates, vendors, shop and office in a fast paced environment

  • Willing to travel 30% of the time
