Accountability & End Result

Responsibilities include production and injection optimization, interdisciplinary planning and project management, and operations and intervention support. Production engineers identify and plan intervention opportunities, perform choke and gas lift optimization, plan and implement openings of new wells, provide gas lift designs, oversee well testing, find ways to minimize production deferrals, and communicate with assigned offshore platform(s) on behalf of the GEA Development organization. PDC production engineers work closely with well intervention and integrity, operations, and reservoir engineering groups to resolve technical issues, execute intervention activities, and deliver production targets.

Assigned roles and responsibilities:

Some of the key responsibilities are:

  • Maximizing oil production through production optimization via gas lift allocation, choke and valve settings, and well routing optimization
  • Ownership of well testing process, including quality control and prioritization
  • Identification and execution of production enhancement activities including well intervention activities, including percistent cost and risk management.
  • New well flowbacks and subsequent drawdown management
  • Gas lift design, artificial lift studies, and production engineering strategic planning

Required competencies:

  • BS in petroleum engineering or BS in engineering degree in alternative field with relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of relevant technical background and industry experience
  • Production engineering experience in a gas lifted, waterflooded field

Preferred competencies:

  • MS in petroleum engineering
  • Business unit experience and experience with carbonate reservoirs
  • Perforating and acid stimulation / re-stimulation design
  • Decline curve analysis and production forecasting
  • Well performance analysis through use of pressure transient analysis
  • Providing production engineering support for development drilling – rotary and/or coiled tubing drilling
  • Ability to provide technical mentoring to less experienced production engineers
  • Working knowledge of waterflood design and operations, well construction, and well integrity

Preferred Leadership Competencies

  • Self-driven. Strong personal leadership and drive toward teamwork. Good communicator. Collaborate effectively across the matrix/organizational boundaries to achieve business goals
  • Able to drive continuous improvements and to instigate and make change happen through persistency and a pragmatic approach.
  • Set ambitious, yet realistic goals and targets, and consistently achieve these
  • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments
  • Generates effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions
