Your responsibilities

  • Interact directly with the project manager and with the customer to understand the needs.
  • Be the technical contact person with our customers.
  • Maintain a relationship of trust throughout the phases of the project.
  • Ensure system compliance and technical risk management.
  • Iterate with the customers on their requirements.
  • Establish and manage the system and subsystem requirements.
  • Ensure the capture and management of the requirements for systems of varying complexity.
  • Ensure the creation and design of the system.
  • Modelize the systems.
  • Monitor system performance.
  • Elaborate technical budgets and define their margins.
  • Regularly give presentations, both in English and in French, to customers or to the technical team at design reviews or at other milestones.
  • Collaborate with the Integration and Testing team in the development and definition of the test plans, as well as in the verification and validation strategies.
  • Ensure the interdepartmental technical coordination of the project team.
  • Run weekly project meetings with the technical team.
  • Follow up on technical actions and organize the short-term schedule.
  • Assist the project manager in planning (strategic level and execution).
  • Define the levels of effort necessary to achieve the objectives, and ensure that these assessments are met.
  • Ensure compliance with the intellectual property rules and act accordingly.
  • Guide the technical team and develop the system engineering tools as well as the Model-based Systems Engineering.
  • Act as a leader in continuous improvement activities.
  • Travel occasionally to customer premises (U.S. and international) and to ABB's various offices.

Your background

  • Bachelor of Engineering or Applied Sciences, or equivalent.
  • Solid experience in the development of infrared optical instrumentation.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a technical project manager.
  • Good knowledge of INCOSE, CMMI, MIL-STD, ISO and other standards and specifications.
  • Mastery of the following tools: Magic Draw(Model-based Systems Engineering), Windchill (product tree, document tree, management, BOM), Primavera Client (schedule and management of short-term tasks), SAP (order tracking, etc.), Office Suite.
  • Experience in MATLAB or Python programming.
  • English-French bilingualism.

  • Interpersonal skills and exceptional communication skills (both spoken and written).
  • Extensive analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Extensive leadership qualities.
  • Understanding the financial aspects of a project.
