Flint Hills Resources is currently looking for a Senior Process Engineer to work at our Ethanol facility in Camilla, GA. In this hands-on engineering role, you will drive process improvement initiatives of existing operations as well as new processes. This position will be a member of the site Senior Leadership team, and will be focused on plant priorities.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Help optimize operational performance of the plant by reviewing key performance indicators of the operation, key process events, and make recommendations for change to drive continuous improvement
  • Help drive improvements in yield and throughput of the site by optimizing base performance, innovating and leading improvement projects and efforts
  • Work closely with and guide the engineering support staff and help ensure the team is on track with plant priorities for resolving issues, making continuous improvements and performance managing plant led projects
  • Mentor other engineer and technical staff
  • Evaluate equipment with respect to performance and efficiencies, recommend new equipment where necessary, make recommendations for repair and replacement of equipment, and evaluate results
  • Develop capital project justifications and lead assigned projects
  • Responsible for all technical aspects of the ethanol plant including process continuous improvement and small plant led projects, review and monitor all key performance indicators, and monitor efficiencies of plant equipment and operation
  • Play a lead role in site safety systems such as PSSR (pre-start-up safety reviews), PHA's (process hazard analysis) and Incident Investigations as required
  • Oversee the MOC Process and track status, compliance and performance in this area
  • Provide technical support to operating teams for the daily operation of assigned chemical processes
  • Lead key Operational Excellence projects to support the site goals

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a process or industrial setting
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering 
  • Valid and current driver's license
  • Ability to respond remotely to and support emergency issues as needed

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders to 200 feet
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots and hearing protection)

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering
  • Experience working in an ethanol plant
  • 10+ years’ experience in a process or industrial setting
  • Previous experience supervising, directing teams, or leading change in a process setting
  • Experience with PI software
