You will use your expertise to:

  • Lead and coordinate development of the mine and tailings business plan for Fort Hills, linking business strategies to tactical and operational plans, and communicate the resources required to achieve business goals and targets
  • Ensure alignment and communication of key inputs, constraints and interdependencies between stakeholders
  • Capture risks to the business plan and work with risk owners on the development of treatment plans with stewardship to senior leaders
  • Ensure projects are identified and initiated for development supporting through to concept selection
  • Facilitate project integration for the mid-range mine planning team through technical interface management, risk management, quality management, process safety management, and regulatory compliance

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • A post-secondary education in Mining or Geological Engineering
  • Seven years in various mine planning, mine projects and/or mine operations roles
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with APEGA
  • A good understanding of mine and tailings operations, and scheduling
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to understand integrated, complex issues and relate them to risk management practices
  • The ability to communicate clear and concisely to senior leaders and peers and resolve discrepancies between stakeholders

Preference for:

  • Experience in production planning, business planning, and/or project development and execution
  • Experience with open pit mining, especially oil sands mining
  • Knowledgeable in Minescape
