Your responsibilities

  • Evaluates new process technologies to improve productivity, quality and cost reduction, defining and leading testing activities, approval criteria and external provider choices.
  • Demonstrates creativity and innovation in identifying and recommending improvement opportunities and implements improvement projects, ensuring adherence to timeframe, quality and cost requirements.
  • Creates work plans and cost estimates of projects and ensures quality deliverables on time and within targeted cost.
  • Prepares project documentation within one’s scope of deliverables.
  • Collaborates with production to gather improvement ideas and translate ideas into requirements and actionable projects.
  • Provides support to production during the internal/external process/equipment start-up, defining action plans and training relevant maintenance and production resources.
  • Organizes and oversees contractors during process/equipment installation ensuring proper communication occurs with stakeholders and safety protocols are adhered to.
  • Defines the working phase sequence of a new production process to achieve the targeted product cost and equipment investment budget.
  • Ensures appropriate production methods, cycle-time, equipment performance and materials/components in support of production targets.
  • Ensures the production process complies with the project targets.
  • Approves the design for processes developed internally or externally and performs final tests with respect to the project.
  • Manage a large capital project and/or multiple small capital expenditure project simultaneously.
  • Create and revise standard operating procedures.
  • Lead or participate in the Customer Care Response Process for non-conformance investigations and assist with implementing good engineering practices to reduce the risk of repeat non-conformances.

Your background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering/science field and minimum 10+ years of experience working in a related field.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
  • Basic understanding of CAD (Autodesk/AutoCAD preferred) – and practical use in designing production layouts and developing gripper systems/jigs/fixtures.
  • Experience in Robot Programming and Applications.
  • A sound understanding of Design for Assembly.
  • Experience with industrial field bus like EtherCAT, EtherNET/IP, Profitnet, DeviceNet.
  • Experience with MES systems and factory automation data.
  • Experience with RFID asset tracking and data utilization.
  • Experience in PC based control systems with Microsoft OS.
  • Proficient with programming languages - Visual Basic, Java, Python, C++, etc.
  • Familiar with big data technology.
  • Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing Concepts with the ability to apply relentless continuous improvement principles to all projects/processes.
  • Comfortable creating and presenting concepts within team of direct peers as well as senior level management.
  • Experience working with a multinational or larger corporation and counterparts in other remote locations.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
