Overview / Responsibilities

  • The Phoenix office of Wood is a regional center of excellence for Transportation, serving local, regional, state and out-of-state clients. Our Transportation practice is comprised of Roadway and Traffic Engineering specialty areas; and it is made up of a balanced mix of senior leadership, technical experts, seasoned designers, and young professionals. Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-on technical design including geometric layouts, modeling/cross-sections, and preparation of construction drawings/plans
  • Perform roadway engineering tasks in a team environment, working with interdisciplinary personnel (environmental, utility, ROW, railroad, geotechnical, traffic)
  • Work effectively with team members as well as independently
  • Prepare high quality roadway documents and cost estimates
  • Follow established quality control procedures

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil engineering; A Master’s degree is preferred
  • 3 - 6 years + of roadway or traffic engineering experience
  • EIT certification required
  • PE license, or having qualified and taken the PE exam, a plus
  • Experience applying AASHTO, Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), Maricopa Association of Governments (Arizona), the FHWA Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), and local municipality standards to roadway and traffic design
  • Design experience with Microstation/InRoads (preferred) and/or AutoCAD/Civil 3D
  • Must work well in a project team environment, as well as have the capacity to conduct work with minimal supervision and oversight
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
