You will use your expertise to:

  • Collaborate with various teams, STENs and subject matter experts to drive maturity of Process Safety to achieve continuous reduction in unplanned process safety events across the enterprise
  • Provide guidance on Process Safety Metrics (PSM) to the business, act as a subject matter expert specific to Loss of Primary Containment (LOPCs)
  • Steward the health of Process Safety performance with insights to all levels of the organization
  • Perform analytics to identify targeted areas to improve Process Safety performance
  • Monitor and progress the development and implementation of key performance indicators to track Process Safety progress
  • Ensure compliance with standards and guidance including updating governance documents
  • Representative to support the development and implementation of Enablon Version 9
  • Provide supervision and mentorship to student intern
  • Ensure the function’s risk register is maintained and reviews completed in alignment with Enterprise Risk Management requirements

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in engineering, operations and/or maintenance
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering: Chemical preferred
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)

Preference for:

  • Knowledge and competency with Process Safety standards and guidance specific to LOPCs, Incident Management, Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs) and Management of Change (MOC) processes.Additional knowledge in Process Safety Information (PSI) requirements and Consequence Analysis & Facility Siting (CA&FS) is an asset
  • Understanding of Suncor’s OEMS and Enterprise Risk Management processes
  • Proficiency with analytics and Microsoft Office programs (PowerBI, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Leadership skills to drive collaboration across Suncor
  • Knowledge of engineering design, plant operations and maintenance practices
  • Ability to influence without authority and are highly motivated
  • Strong collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • Ability to communicate with clarity, impact and passion to help mature Process Safety across the enterprise, and to collaborate across all levels of the organization to enable and drive change
  • Continuous improvement mindset and the ability to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems and processes
  • Proficiency in Enablon and SAP
