You will use your expertise to:

  • Maintain relief device database (PSPPM Administrator) and Aspen flare system analyzer (Flarenet) Models
  • Support execution of the management of change (MOC) and pre startup safety review (PSSR) processes in accordance with Suncor and regulatory requirements
  • Build strong positive relationships to collaborate with refinery departments to coordinate process safety activities
  • Champion the transfer of process safety knowledge to refinery personnel while continuously identifying and seeking out opportunities to promote continuous improvement
  • Assist in mentoring and developing process safety talent within other departments in the refinery

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five years in refining and petrochemical process safety systems and pressure protection and relief experience
  • Strong working knowledge of process safety management
  • In depth understanding of API/ASME and other standards and codes as they relate to Pressure Protection
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • A strong understanding of refinery processes to make sound recommendations for process safety corrective actions
  • Strong time management skills and can stay calm under pressure, manage priorities, and react promptly to meet deadlines with high-quality work
  • Effective organizational skills to prioritize and lead projects/initiatives within tight deadlines; you are highly motivated, resourceful and resilient

  • Highly developed analytical skills; with experience using PSPPM/Aspen/MOC /PHAST software packages
