Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop new formulas for color samples, demonstrating precision in color matching, optimal colorant loading, and minimal raw material costs, which meet customer requirements.
  • Execute knowledge of color databases and fundamental working knowledge of a spectrophotometer, recognizing the best color measurement method to achieve color matching accuracy, and determination of visual or spectral color tolerances for QC.
  • Execute working knowledge of blending, compounding, and secondary conversion processes, such as injection molding in preparation of color test samples.
  • Execute working knowledge of pigment, dye, and special effect colorant compatibility by polymer, translating customer requirements of thermal, weather, light fastness, etc. to commercially viable color matches.
  • Utilize automated systems and technology (ERP, PC, Color Computer, Colibri, Sololab, Accolade) to develop, diagnose and/or improve processes and resolve customer issues.
  • Complete experiments and record data and observations on existing and new colorants and additives. Maintain written database of color development projects, procedures, results and master formula entry.
  • Exhibit customer focused responsiveness and effectively communicate to internal and external customers, with proficient project management working independently with nominal direction. Complete color chips and samples for customers, including proper labeling. This may include larger projects like marketing hand-outs (chip booklets).
  • All other duties not specifically assigned.
