Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and perform the work listed. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This position serves as an Area Lead or Lead on assigned projects and performs moderately complex engineering assignments, evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques to a broad set of complex HVAC, plant utilities, plumbing or fire protection assignments.

  • Develop and review project Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, and other project baseline documents for all phases of projects
  • Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including manpower forecasts
  • Develop and review specifications, including design criteria
  • Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting
  • Review and approve vendor lists, prepare quotation requests, bid tabulations, purchase orders, and review substitutions for technical acceptability
  • Perform and check design calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of complex to difficult engineering complexity
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Job Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and eight (8) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines

Other Job Requirements

Advanced knowledge in design, sizing, and selection of any of the following:

  • HVAC systems for control of space temperature, humidity, particulate, and airborne contaminants
  • Plant utility systems including chilled water, cooling tower water, heating hot water, steam, and compressed air
  • Plumbing systems including potable water, plant water, tepid (eyewash & safety shower) water, sanitary waste, process waste, and storm water drainage
  • Fire suppression systems including wet pipe, dry pipe, pre-action, and clean agents

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional registration
  • Manufacturing and life sciences project experience
  • Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards
  • Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting
  • Practical field experience
  • Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs
  • HVAC load estimating experience using Carrier HAPP
  • Fire sprinkler hydraulic calculation experience using AutoSPRINK or HASS
  • Drawing and modeling experience using AutoCAD, Revit, Plant 3D, or Smart 3D (S3D)
