Technology Portfolio Manager

  • for the Electric Power Advanced Technology (AT) portfolio. Lead the technology STRAP (strategic plan), Annual Operating Plan, and support Integrated Product & Technology Roadmaps in collaboration with Business Leadership, Product Action Committee (PAC), Technology Fellow, Chief Engineers, Tech Council and E&PS Engineering.

Program Management skills required to lead teams in executing projects that include:

  • Advanced High-Power Generator
  • All-Electric Powertrain for Aviation
  • Budget responsibility of over $3M per year
  • No direct reports. Provide direction to 10-15 matrix team members. Mentor junior engineers.
  • Cultivate customer and government agency contacts, leading to funded technology development opportunities
  • Stretch goal to book externally funded programs valued at more than $500K annually
  • Effectively manage intellectual property through the timely submittal of patent disclosures. Interface with patent portfolio managers and patent attorneys as needed.
  • Develop technology project plans, including charter, schedule, milestones, resource plan, cost estimate and risk management plan
  • Lead and execute projects to meet or beat plan
  • Utilize the earned value management system in collaboration with Program Planning & Control personnel
  • Take appropriate, proactive steps to minimize variances to plan
  • Identify risks early and develop swift and effective corrective action plans


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
  • 8 years of experience in engineering
  • US citizenship required due to export constrained and government classified programs


  • Advanced Degree
  • Project leadership experience with personal accountability for schedule performance and management of budget greater than $500K per year
  • Relevant experience in proposal preparation including statement of work, schedule & cost estimate
  • Advanced degree or PMP certification
  • Proven track record of meeting technical, schedule and budget commitments while satisfying internal and external customers
  • Action-oriented, self-starting approach with ability to decompose overall goals into detailed action plans
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, empowered, team leader with proven track record of working effectively across geographic and cultural boundaries
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, presentation, written and oral communication skills
  • Able to positively influence others, and resolve conflicts quickly and tactfully
  • Understanding of business objectives and demonstrate ability to interact with customers
  • Work with functional leaders to prioritize resources and implement project objectives
  • Business acumen: knowledge of current and emerging practices, methods, and information relating to discipline and application within the industry
