Duties & Responsibilities


The Engineer will be assigned to the Subsea Robotics (SSR) and Offshore Projects Group (OPG) Control Systems Team as an Electrical Engineer. The Electrical Engineer will be teamed up with existing Electrical Engineers to provide project, maintenance, hardware, and software support for existing SSR/OPG equipment. The Electrical Engineer shall be willing to travel offshore, both domestically and internationally.

While in the SSR/OPG Control Systems Team, the Electrical Engineer will:

  • Perform engineering duties necessary to prepare systems and personnel for offshore campaigns. These may include:
  • Design modifications to existing equipment
  • Design of test equipment
  • Participating in operational risk assessments
  • Preparing scopes of supply
  • Providing cost and labor estimates for proposals
  • Performing project-specific analyses and calculations
  • Preparing project-specific procedures
  • Develop testing procedures for qualification, factory acceptance, and offshore readiness testing
  • Develop operation and maintenance manuals for both equipment and software
  • Work closely with IT Team to design, build, test, operate, and troubleshoot networking systems
  • Provide support during the manufacturing, testing, and assembly phases of a project
  • Participate in technical reviews and proposals
  • Provide support to offshore campaigns, from both the office and offshore. (Possibility of short notice to go offshore)
  • Interface with customers, project managers, and techniciansProvide engineering status and progress reportsDesign and program robotics and oil and gas control systems
  • Design and program PLC Software for complex controls systemsDesign and program Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs based on ISA101) for complex controls systems



  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent degree.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience
  • 5+ years hands on experience with common lab equipment and shop floor tools
  • 3+ years experience with PLC usage, programming, hardware, and networking
  • 3+ years experience with electro-hydraulic control systems


  • Experience with server configuration with VMware, Thin Manager, and Historian
  • Rockwell Control/Compact Guard Logix, Point Guard IO, Stratix Switch Configuration
  • Experience with LabView usage and programming
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Solidworks, or other CAD packages
  • Ability to travel offshore, domestically and internationally, as needed

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Knowledge of subsea intervention systems
  • Knowledge of riserless well intervention
  • Knowledge of operations in the subsea industry
  • Knowledge of IWOCS
  • Knowledge of Robotics, ROVs, and ROV Tooling
  • Knowledge of power and communications(copper/fiber) distribution
  • Knowledge of systems engineering processes
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering processes
  • Knowledge of industry codes: API 17F/G and ISO-13628-6/7
  • Ability to work within tight deadline windows
  • Ability to work under general direction
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure offshore environment
  • Ability to clearly communicate potential issues and resolutions
  • Ability to analyze complex electrical controls circuits for functionality, electrical loads, failure modes, and abnormal equipment behavior
