Aquatic are currently looking for a Control Systems and Programming Engineer to join the team on a full time, permanent basis. The location for this role is flexible & can be Peterhead or Bridge of Don for the correct candidate. The purpose of the role is to drive all aspects of equipment capability and performance, advancement through build, upgrade & maintenance, with emphasis on Control Systems, PLC, HMI design, fault finding and documentation.

Duties

  • Maintain a detailed knowledge on Aquatic equipment range and fully understand the functionality, with comprehensive knowledge on the control systems and equipment programming
  • Review equipment designs, recommend and implement solutions to ensure a safe working environment for the equipment users and those in the equipment vicinity
  • Be subject expert in equipment controls and programming and lead the construction and commissioning of equipment, including:
    • Design, develop, commission and install control systems
    • Test, maintain and modify current systems
    • Development of project plans, budgets and procedures for efficient and effective control of the project
    • Procurement of materials
    • Supervision of personnel, as necessary, including any subcontractors, during construction phases and fulfilling the scope of work to time, cost and quality parameters
    • Liaise with Equipment Manager to develop associated operations manuals and maintenance schedules for equipment
    • Contribute to equipment project management and closure procedures including review and feedback meetings to ensure lessons learned are fed throughout the business
  • Technical support to operations
  • Support equipment related tasks including Offshore & Overseas:
    • Building
    • Planning
    • Maintenance
    • Testing (SIT, FAT, FMEA, CE Functional including development of regime)
    • Commissioning
    • Documentation
    • Equipment Control Systems (Computers, PLC & HMI)
  • Assume role of Project Manager on specific projects:
    • Capex Equipment Builds with focus on rebuilds
    • Assist in the production of Project Plans and Schedules
    • Budget management 

Required Experience

  • Degree qualified or HNC/HND in Electrical, Controls or Mechatronics Engineering
  • Demonstrable experience in Electro/ Mechanical systems
  • Seimens PLC programming and control
  • Electrical control systems including HMI & PLC’s
  • PLC/ HMI Hardware selection and design
  • Experience writing technical specifications, FATs, OMMs etc.
  • Attention to detail
  • Good understanding of mechanics, hydraulics and electrics
  • Familiarity with software packages including Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, OneNote, AutoCAD, Solidworks 3D
  • Good communication, influencing and inter-personal skills
