Responsibilities:

  • Apply and consolidate specialists skills and knowledge and ensure essential procedures are followed.
  • Facilitates in defining the standards and specifications around which others will operate.
  • Assist in developing and coaching younger engineers in the team.
  • Evaluate customer specifications to determine the best design for the application.
  • Review customer specifications to match specifications or clearly define differences (clarifications or exceptions list).
  • Provide cost estimates for instrumentation, valves, specialty items, spare parts, field instrument and hookup and control system for proposals within the scope of supply and client specifications. Provide man hours estimate to complete instrument (and electrical) for I&E department for each project.
  • Review P&ID’s to confirm correct instrumentation symbol and control scheme, confirm sizes for control valve, relief valve, flow element and mounting nozzles for instrumentation.  Train team members to review P&ID’s.
  • Assist in developing P&IDs to ensure compliance with client specifications, and/or Cameron standard piping specifications.
  • Recommend, specify and prepare requisition for inquiry and purchase of instrumentation, valves, and other piping components like spec blinds, bleed rings. Train team members to perform the same duty.
  • Perform control valve sizing, relief valve sizing, flow element sizing. Train team members to perform these sizing.
  • Recommend/select control valve, level instruments, flow instruments, analyzers, and manual valves best suited for application.
  • Prepare/review/approve Instrument Datasheets for all instruments, control valves, On Off Valves, PSVs and analyzers, etc.
  • Instruct/Review/Approval all instrument design deliverables as but not limit followings: Instrument Index, instrument I/O list, cable schedule, cable block diagram, JB wiring diagram, instrument installation and hook up drawing, instrument and JB layout, cable tray layout, etc. all Instrument Engineering Documents
  • Prepare/review/approve technical requirement or specification for all instruments/control valves/on off valves, PSVs and analyzers etc. used for RFQ
  • Prepare/review/approve technical requirement or spec. for PLC based UCP, VSD Panel and Electrical Heater Panel.
  • Prepare/review/approve F&G detector datasheet
  • Instruct/review/approve F&G and PAGA layout
  • Participate in client or internal HAZOP and SIL review.
  • Coordinate with Engineering Department to identify equipment that requires spare parts per Cameron requirements or client specifications. Prepare project commissioning and operation spare parts lists. Train team members to prepare spare parts lists.
  • Provide installation instructions and dimensional drawings during vessel/piping design, and fabrication phases.
  • Assist in providing hookup details to I&E contractor for installation of instrumentations.
  • Review and approve subcontractor field instrument and electrical hookup scope, and ensure scope meets client specifications or Cameron standard.
  • Coordinate with product team to review subcontractor control system design, and ensure scope meets client specifications or Cameron standard.
  • Review vendor drawings, hookup, calculation and other technical documentation related to instrumentations.
  • Perform final inspection for instrumentation and valves.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for Cameron equipment.
  • Provide assistance with on site start-up and / or troubleshooting.
  • Ability to filter, prioritize, analyze and validate potentially complex and dynamic material using new approaches and techniques.
  • Ability to modify established guidelines and initiation of new approaches.
  • Ability to apply developed independent decision making in planning, organizing and completing technical assignments.
  • Ability to review P&ID’s for complex process equipment.
  • Ability to size control valves, relief valves, and flow measurement devices.
  • Excellent knowledge of all materials of construction and their application.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Section VIII, Division 1 and ASME B31.3.
  • Working knowledge of NACE MR-01-75 (2003) / ISO-15156 guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of ISA guidelines and symbols for instrumentation.
  • Working knowledge of API and ANSI guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or Electrical Engineering with 10-20 years experience in the specification and selection of instrumentation and valves for the Oil and Gas Industry.
  • In depth knowledge of national and international codes and standards for instrument and electrical, valves testing and construction, inspection and NDE requirements, and field installation and start-up procedures.
  • Expert in control valve, relief valve, flow elements sizing, selection and applications.
  • Expert in all level instrumentation types and their applications.
  • Expert in all valve types and their limitations.
  • Hands on experience with field start-up, calibration and trouble shooting experience of instrumentation.
  • Have strong knowledges and experience for DCS, ESD, F&G and PAGA
  • Have strong knowledge and experience for PLC based UCP
  • Have strong knowledges for MCC, VSD Panel and Electrical Heater Panel
  • About 10 years’ experience in Oil & Gas industry onshore or offshore for Instrumentation design and engineering.
  • Willing to work in Petaling Jaya and open to international travel.
